Senator Santorum Recognizes America's Veterans on the 62nd Anniversary of D-Day

U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA), Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, today honored the 62nd anniversary D-Day.

"Today, we come together as a nation to honor the more than 6,600 Americans who lost their lives during the D-Day operation. Sixty-two years ago today, U.S. troops joined our allies and launched the largest invasion force in human history, ultimately resulting in the liberation of Europe and the demise of the greatest threat to human freedom of the 20th century. As a result, we are privileged to live in a powerfully free society. And for that -- our freedom and the freedom of every American that follows -- we owe a debt of gratitude that simply cannot be expressed in words.

"I extend my most heartfelt gratitude to all of our veterans who sacrificed so much for our nation. If America is fortunate enough to continue to have citizens that exhibit the courage, character and selflessness of our World War II veterans, I have no doubt that our nation will remain a shining example of greatness in the world for generations to come."
