Senator Santorum Comments on Stolen Personal Data of Veterans

U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA), Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, today made the following statement regarding stolen personal information from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA):

"I am extremely concerned that the personal information of millions of veterans has been stolen from a VA employee. This is a major breach of security of not only the VA but also the millions of veterans affected. I am absolutely puzzled that a VA employee was simply able to walk out of the VA with the personal data of veterans.

"Those responsible must be held accountable and the VA must review its security measures to ensure that this never happens again. Finally, we must do everything in our power to protect those veterans whose information was stolen from crime.

"Our veterans have fought to defend our country. The least the Department can do is ensure their security as they have so valiantly ensured ours."
