Congressman Wynn Fights for An Environmentally Sound Energy Security Policy

Tonight, Congressman Albert Wynn voted against final passage of the significantly underfunded House Interior, Environment and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill (HR 5386). The bill funds most of the federal government's environmental programs. The FY 2007 bill includes the lowest funding levels in nearly a decade with dramatic cuts in the Land and Water Conservation Fund, the Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Park Service and a number of other programs and agencies central to our environment. Overall funding in the bill is cut $145 million below FY 2006 levels and about $800 million below the level needed to maintain current services.

"This bill needlessly threatens the nation's environmental security without reason. We need an energy policy that preserves our environment. I will continue to fight to protect common sense environmental regulations," said Wynn.
