Legislators Discuss Border Security in Washington

WASHINGTON - U.S. Congressman Jeb Hensarling (right) and Texas State Rep. Dan Flynn (left) met in Washington recently to discuss federal and state efforts to strengthen border security and stop the flood of illegal immigration into the United States.

"After 9-11 we ignore border security at our own peril," said Congressman Hensarling. "We have Iraqis trying to infiltrate our southern border and Al-Qaeda has made contacts with human smugglers in Mexico. Clearly, we have to do everything in our power to preserve the integrity of our borders and protect American citizens from harm. I greatly appreciate Rep. Flynn's efforts in Austin to help our state and our country tackle this important problem."

"If we're going to stem the tide of illegal immigrants into Texas - and we must - state and local governments need to work in sync with the federal government," said Rep. Flynn. "Congressman Hensarling's leadership on this issue in Washington has been invaluable, and I look forward to continuing our joint effort to beef up enforcement and keep our communities safe."
