Fitzpatrick Secures Funds to Restore Historic Honey Hollow Properties

$50,000 will Restore Historic Bucks Farm House

Washington,

Congressman Michael G. Fitzpatrick announced in a check presentation ceremony today that the Heritage Conservancy will receive $50,000 as part of the US National Parks Service's "Save America's Treasures" program. The $50,000 appropriation will be used to restore a historic farmhouse and barn on the Honey Hollow nature preserve. These funds were secured by Fitzpatrick as part of the FY2006 Interior Appropriations Bill.

"For eight years, the Save America Treasures Program has helped preserve America's history. This house is one of Bucks County's own treasures and I am proud to have been able to work with Heritage Conservancy to secure these funds," Fitzpatrick said.

The Heritage Conservancy currently owns a farmhouse and barn on the Honey Hollow property that is in urgent need of restoration. The farm house is one of the oldest in the County, dating back to 1747 and the barn dates back to the early 19th Century.

"Navigating anything through the budget process is an arduous task," Fitzpatrick added. "However, the appropriations committee understood the importance of this property and included it in the Interior Bill. I know that Cliff David and everyone at the Heritage Conservancy are up to the task to restore this farm to its former glory."

The funds will be used to complete masonry repairs to the historic house and barn roof, and any other elements identified during the restoration process. Remaining funds may be used to restore the water wheel owned by the Bucks County Audubon Society on the same property.

"I'd like to thank Mike Fitzpatrick for his diligent work on behalf of this project and his consistent support for Heritage Conservancy over the years," Cliff David remarked. "This appropriation is very important to us, to Bucks County, and to the entire region because it enables us to continue the important restoration and preservation work we're doing at this nationally significant site."

Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick is serving his first term as Representative of the 8th District of Pennsylvania, which includes Bucks County and portions of Montgomery County and Philadelphia.
