Governor Ehrlich Introduces Second Supplemental Budget
Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. today introduced a second Fiscal Year 2007 supplemental budget.
"This supplemental budget provides resources to secure Maryland's election system with optical scan voting machines and also makes critical investments in health care," said Governor Ehrlich. "I look forward to working with all members of the House and Senate to ensure this budget is adopted."
Highlights of Governor Ehrlich's 2nd FY 2007 Supplemental Budget
· $28,597,770 ($14.5 million general funds, $14.1 million special funds) for fiscal years 2006 and 2007 for additional funds to lease an optical scan voting system with the capacity to provide a voter-verified paper audit trail, including units that will be accessible to voters with disabilities.
· $15,000,000 (special funds) for fiscal year 2006 for one-time payments to Baltimore City, the counties, and municipalities for local transportation capital-related projects.
· $13,377,408 for fiscal years 2006 and 2007 for additional costs associated with early voting as set forth in Chapter 5 of the 2006 Session.
· $5,000,000 from the Maryland Health Insurance Plan for the Prince George's Hospital Center.
· $2,061,361 (special funds) to provide funds for a new lease and for moving expenses for the Maryland Insurance Administration.
· $2,000,000 for fiscal years 2006 and 2007 for outreach and assistance to eligible Marylanders on the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Program.
· $1,000,000 for the Maryland Historical Society (capital).
· $610,782 for additional funding for the Infants and Toddlers Program.
· $388,800 for 16 new law enforcement vehicles for the new Natural Resources Police recruit class.
· $150,000 for fiscal year 2006 for the National Congress of Christian Education to be held in Baltimore June 19-23, 2006.
