Hoeven Congratulates Microsoft On Expansion In Fargo

Gov. John Hoeven today issued the following statement in response to Microsoft's announcement of an expansion in Fargo:

"We extend our congratulations to the Microsoft community today on the announcement of their expansion in Fargo with 100 support engineering jobs, and we thank them for their innovation and commitment to North Dakota as a place to grow. We also appreciate the close working relationship we have shared with Microsoft's leadership over the years, and we are committed to continuing our work together to ensure that our state remains an attractive location for technology based businesses.

"Today's announcement comes just as we approach the fifth anniversary of the merger of Microsoft and Great Plains Software. Microsoft represents the kind of forward looking company we envisioned when we identified technology is one of our five targeted industries for growth in North Dakota. It has demonstrated, as we have said all along, that the way to grow our economy is to diversify it. That means building on and expanding our strongest industries, like energy, agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and technology."
