Radanovich Offers Support for Line-Item Veto Proposal
3/6/06
WASHINGTON - Congressman George Radanovich (R-Mariposa) today offered his support for President Bush's proposal calling for the reinstatement of the line-item veto.
"The line-item veto would be an important tool in helping to restrain spending and bring fiscal responsibility back to Washington," Congressman Radanovich said. "We clearly need to get the earmark process and other spending under control, and the President's proposal would be a significant step in that direction. Our responsibility is to make sure that we are taking every step possible to reduce waste and spend the taxpayers' dollars wisely."
Congressman Radanovich said he supported the line-item veto law that the House Republican majority passed in 1996. The U.S. Supreme Court later declared the law unconstitutional.
