Walden to Host Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage Workshops to Help Oregon's Seniors
Events to educate seniors on how Medicare prescription drug coverage works and how to choose the best plan for them
WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Representative Greg Walden (R-OR) will host two free educational workshops for seniors in the Second District to help them better understand the new Medicare prescription drug coverage benefit and how to determine the best option for them. Walden will host one workshop in Prineville on Wednesday, March 22, and one in Medford the following day, Thursday, March 23. Times and locations are detailed below; the public is invited and are encouraged to attend.
"Trying to figure out which Medicare prescription drug plan works best for you is an often frustrating and confusing process. Ironically, opponents of adding a new prescription benefit to Medicare said there would be no plans offered; as we've learned, just the opposite is true. There are so many choices out there that it has become difficult to figure out which one works best," said Walden, who serves as co-chair of the bipartisan Rural Health Care Coalition in the House. "After hearing from so many seniors throughout the district and watching my wife go through the process with her parents, I decided it would be helpful if seniors had a place to go to get answers. So I asked the head of Medicare to have the agency participate in these regional workshops so that seniors in central and southern Oregon can get answers to their questions."
