Boehner Statement on Passage of the Children's Safety and Violent Crime Reduction Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today released the following statement upon passage of the Children's Safety and Violent Crime Reduction Act, a bill aimed at securing America's communities against violent crime:
"Our goal is to strengthen and empower states and local communities with the tools they need to combat the threats posed by gang violence and convicted sex offenders. This bill gives local school districts the information they need to protect our children from harm in schools. This bill also stiffens criminal penalties for crimes against public safety officers, first responders, and others involved in keeping our communities safe.
"Securing America's communities requires protecting the innocent as well as those who accept the responsibility of protecting us. The Children's Safety and Violent Crime Reduction Act will go a long way towards that end."
