MCCAIN STATEMENT ON THE INITIATION OF THE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION INTO THE DEATH OF PAT TILLMAN

U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) issued the following statement on the Inspector General of the Department of Defense's decision to recommend to the Army Criminal Investigation Command to initiate a criminal investigation into the death of Pat Tillman:

"I am saddened that another investigation into the death of Pat Tillman is necessary as previous investigations have yet to answer many of the questions that still persist about the circumstances of this exemplary young man's death. The Tillman family deserved better than they have received. I continue to pray for them, and I urge a timely, through and truthful conclusion to this latest investigation.

"In this long war on terrorism, many Americans have suffered terrible sacrifices and their families bear the great burden of their loss. Their service and the sacrifices they and their families have suffered give the rest of us cause to examine our own patriotism. They deserve the public's and our government's deepest respect."
