Cong. Ros-Lehtinen Announces Millions of Federal Dollars For Miami International Airport
Washington, DC-- Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen is very pleased to announce millions of federal dollars for Miami International Airport (MIA). The Department of Transportation announced the award of federal funds totaling $7.55 million dollars for runway improvements.
Said Ros-Lehtinen, "These funds will bring about great improvements to the airport and much needed jobs to our South Florida economy. Miami International Airport is a huge contributor to our local economy and this grant will help to enhance their capability as one of our largest economic engines."
These funds will be used to improve, strengthen, and the extend capacity of the runway. This in turn will allow for reduced delays at the airport. With 31 million passengers passing through MIA in 2005 efforts to reduce congestion and wait times are crucial to the airport's continued success.
Said Ros-Lehtinen, "I am so excited to see that the Department of Transportation gave these funds to Miami International Airport because it is one of the largest and best airports in the country. These funds will help to ensure that MIA remains one of the brightest and best."
