CONGRESSMAN ADERHOLT ON SENATE'S CONFIRMATION OF JUSTICE ALITO

WASHINGTON, DC -- Congressman Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) today made the following statement on newly confirmed Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, who was sworn in shortly after today's 58-42 Senate vote. Alito will serve as our Nation's 110th Supreme Court Justice:

"I was glad to see that Justice Alito got the up or down vote that he deserved. The threats to filibuster this outstanding nominee were unwarranted and proved to be unsuccessful. Samuel Alito is a man whose character is displayed in his judicial record and from all appearances will be a fine addition the U.S. Supreme Court.

"With the swearing in of Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito and their commitment to the Constitution, we are moving towards establishing the High Court that the people deserve and the Framers intended."
