Proclamation - Automotive Career Week

WHEREAS, the retail automobile and truck industry is a vital part of the
economy of our state and nation, providing approximately 1
million jobs in rural, suburban, and urban areas; and

WHEREAS, in recent years, the industry has experienced strong growth
and advances in technology that have created a need for
additional educated and well-trained professionals; and

WHEREAS, raising awareness of the employment opportunities available
within dealerships can help encourage students to explore the
career possibilities offered by the industry; and

WHEREAS, during Automotive Career Week, dealers partner with
manufacturers and educational professionals to host events that
help inform students, teachers, and parents about the wide
array of career opportunities available in the industry.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mark Sanford, Governor of the Great State of
South Carolina, do hereby proclaim October 24 - 29, 2005, as

AUTOMOTIVE CAREER WEEK

throughout the state and encourage all South Carolinians to recognize the
rewarding career opportunities available in the retail automobile and truck
industry for young people in the Palmetto State.
