Following Meeting, Hagel Announces Intention to Support Alito
U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) announced his intention to support Judge Samuel Alito, President Bush's nominee to the United States Supreme Court, after a meeting with Judge Alito in his Senate office this morning.
"I enthusiastically endorse and support Judge Alito's nomination. He is a distinguished nominee with a long record of applied judicial philosophy. The President has chosen wisely. There should be wide-spread support in the Senate for a fair up-or-down vote on Judge Alito," Hagel said.
