Like you, I am stunned by the devastation Hurricane Katrina caused along the Gulf Coast. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and families affected by this natural disaster.

Americans are known for their perseverance,resilience and toughness, and I am confident that just as we have stood strong before in times of hardship, that the people of the Gulf Coast will be able toregroup and rebuild. I am also confident in the generosity of the American people. Now is the time to come together to help our fellow Americans.
