HOW TO HELP THE VICTIMS OF HURRICANE KATRINA

Nebraska's Senator Ben Nelson provided the following list of telephone numbers and websites for agencies administering relief efforts to victims of Hurricane Katrina. The list was provided to congressional offices by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

FEMA asks that those seeking to offer assistance or seek information please bear with the emergency personnel and rescue teams and realize that it may be difficult to get through because of downed communication lines, and the overwhelming life-saving measures that are taking place.

"Many Nebraskans have been contacting my office asking for information on how to help and how to contact friends and loved ones," said Senator Nelson. "FEMA's list is a good place to start if you want to offer help or need information. I know that just as in the aftermath of the September 11th terrorist attacks, Nebraskans stand ready to help the victims of this devastating natural disaster in any way they can."

The list provided by FEMA is broken down by state.
