A Statement from Congressman Jindal Regarding Comments by the Executive Director of the ACLU of Louisiana
Metairie, LA, Aug 16 - Congressman Bobby Jindal (LA-01) issued the following statement in response to comment from ACLU of Louisiana Executive Director Joe Cook, which compared the Christian beliefs of some to the fanaticism of the terrorists of 9/11 and the recent London bombings.
"I am disappointed that Joe Cook chose to compare the Faith of several Louisiana elected officials to the hateful beliefs that drove terrorists to attack innocent Americans on September 11th. There is no comparison between a Faith that is held by hundreds of thousands of Louisianans which calls us to love our enemies, feed the hungry, care for the poor, and defend the defenseless, and the hate-filled beliefs of radical terrorists who target the innocent and prey on the defenseless."
"I understand that Mr. Cook disagrees with the policy positions taken by the Tangipahoa School Board, but Mr. Cook should learn to disagree without impugning the Faith of our School Board Members, and so many of our fellow citizens. In this situation, I think Mr. Cook should apologize for this careless assault on all people of Faith."
