Rep. Boozman's Statement on the BRAC Commission's Decision to Award a New Mission to the 188th Fighter Wing

Washington, Aug 26 -

U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) today issued the following statement on the BRAC Commission's recommendation to transfer eighteen A-10 Warthog aircraft to the 188th Fighter Air National Guard Unit in Fort Smith.

"The BRAC Commission's decision today is a testament to the hard work the community of Fort Smith. We all came together to prove to the commissioners that Fort Smith is the ideal place for an air base and appears that they have listened. By replacing the retiring F-16 jets with A-18 Warthogs, the BRAC Commission has given the 188th a new mission that fits the community and focuses on the future."
