Statement on Supreme Court's Ruling on 10 Commandments Monument
Jun. 27, 2005

AUSTIN - Gov. Rick Perry issued the following statement today on the U.S. Supreme Court ruling, which upheld the constitutionality of the 10 Commandments monument on the Texas state capitol grounds.

"Today's ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court is a great victory for Texans because it recognizes that the 10 Commandments not only have religious significance, but have helped shape our laws. For 40 years, the 10 Commandments monument has stood on the capitol grounds, reminding all visitors of their historical significance as well as their influence on the laws of our great state."
