Chambliss Statement Regarding TSA Screener Issue at Hartsfield-Jackson
U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss issued the following statement after the conclusion of a meeting between Ben DeCosta the Aviation General Manager at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Jim Blair the Acting Chief Operating Officer of the Transportation Security Administration, Willie Williams the Federal Security Director at Atlanta, airline officials, and representatives from Senators Saxby Chambliss' and Johnny Isakson's offices. The purpose of the meeting was to reach an agreement regarding the potential TSA staffing cuts.
"While I feel that the meeting was beneficial, it is safe to say that we have a lot of work to accomplish with TSA, whose officials let us know that they intend to release plans in the next few weeks that will illustrate ways to increase efficiencies in the TSA screening operation. While I remain committed to ensuring that Hartsfield-Jackson remains an economic engine of the Southeast and all passengers can continue to travel safely with the least wait time possible, I am eager to learn more about the plans for better efficiency from TSA."
