Senator Richard Burr (R-NC), Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, made the following statement after the Senate confirmed former Senator Dan Coats to be the Director of National Intelligence on a bipartisan vote of 85-12:

"Today, the Senate voted to confirm our colleague Dan Coats to become the Director of National Intelligence. Dan has the experience and judgment necessary to effectively lead the Intelligence Community. He understands well the unique nature of intelligence work and will ensure the IC has the legal tools and authorities needed to help keep our country safe."
