U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) joined his colleagues on the Senate floor late last night to speak against the nomination of Betsy DeVos for Secretary of Education before voting against her confirmation this afternoon.

Senator Booker's floor remarks focused on the need for a Secretary of Education who is prepared to oversee a strong and active Office of Civil Rights within the Department of Education and is willing to protect the rights of all students, regardless of their gender, race, sexual orientation, national origin, religion or disability.
