Bono Secures Funds for Local Interior Projects and Lauds Additional Funding for Veterans
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In spite of an extremely tight budget year, Congresswoman Mary Bono (CA-45) was pleased to secure funding for local priorities in the Fiscal Year 2006 Interior appropriations package. The bill provides funding for America's national parks, fire prevention activities, and Native American programs. The final bill also addresses a budgetary shortfall in veterans healthcare by providing for an additional $1.5 billion in federal funds.
"These critically needed funds will help to ensure the safety of district residents and help further the development of the Santa Rosa/San Jacinto Mountains National Monument," said Congresswoman Bono. "Funding this year is extremely tight, so I am very pleased to be able to bring these crucial federal dollars home to augment state and local efforts. I am also pleased that Congress secured additional funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs under this measure, bringing much needed and much deserved funds to our nation's veterans."
