Inhofe Statement on House Passage of WIIN

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), chairman of the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, today released a statement following the House passage of S. 612, the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act. The WIIN Act authorizes port, waterway, and flood protection improvements for the country, includes the Water and Waste Act of 2016 to help communities meet the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act, authorizes state regulation of coal ash, and addresses significant tribal and natural resources issues.

The WIIN Act passed the House of Representatives 360-61.

"Today's strong bipartisan vote in the House of Representatives is indicative of the importance of this legislation," Inhofe said. "I am proud that this bill gets us back on track to authorizing critical water infrastructure projects across the country every two years, ensuring our economic vitally and competitiveness. This bill also delivers on the promise many of my colleagues and I made to the community of Flint, Mich. and other disadvantaged communities. I look forward to a strong bipartisan vote on the WIIN Act in the Senate to send this bill to the President to be signed into law."
