Inhofe Statement on FWS Final Mitigation Policy

U.S. Sen Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), chairman of the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW) today issued a statement commenting on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's (FWS) final policy on mitigating impacts of land and water development projects:

"I am disappointed that once again the administration has overstepped its bounds by finalizing the Fish and Wildlife Service's new mitigation policy," Inhofe said. "By establishing a net gain or no net loss outcome for land management, the Mitigation Policy is more about extending federal control over private lands than following the law as written by Congress. As a result of FWS' Mitigation Policy, development costs will increase, as will bureaucratic delays, making it harder for private landowners to develop or manage their lands. I look forward to working with the incoming administration to revisit this overly broad policy."
