U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp announced $1,039,904 in federal funding for the state of North Dakota to make investments in some of the state's lowest performing schools to help improve student outcomes and put the schools on better paths forward.

"North Dakota students show up in the classroom every day to learn and grow," said Heitkamp. "No student should have to suffer the consequences of inadequate access to a high performing school, so we owe it to them to make sure they get the education they need to be successful in life. This federal funding will help to make improvements for low-performing schools, so they are able to provide new and innovative methods to turn schools around to make sure every student receives the education they deserve."

These federal funds are made available through the U.S. Department of Education's School Improvement Grant Program. This grant program provides funding to states, which in turn distribute the federal funds to some of the lowest-performing schools that have demonstrated a commitment to improving student outcomes.
