Tell Congress: No More Fracking on Public Lands!

Statement

Date: Oct. 27, 2016

Toxic chemicals have no place in our air and drinking water.

On public lands across the country, energy companies are using a technique called hydraulic fracturing -- also known as fracking -- to extract valuable natural gas from the ground. But it's not just natural gas that escapes to the surface: the fracking process also releases toxic chemicals that can contaminate the air we breathe and the water we drink.

Fracking is a threat to public lands that the federal government has protected and preserved for generations -- and it's got to stop. Sign my petition right now to tell Congress to ban fracking on public lands!

Last year, New York State moved to ban fracking after a seven-year review showed that it posed clear risks to public health. But communities throughout America are still vulnerable to the dangerous chemicals released by nearby fracking. It's time for Congress to take action and put an end to fracking on our public lands.

With your support, we can make it happen: Add your name right now to tell Congress "no more fracking on public lands!"
