Issue Position: Honoring our Veterans

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2016
Issues: Veterans

As the daughter of a WWII Air Force Veteran, Gail understands the sacrifices made by all Veterans who wore their uniform with distinction, and their military families. That's why in Congress Gail will expand point-of-care services in our VA clinics, through community providers, or under the New Choice Program -- especially in rural areas. We must increase the availability of health care services to our Veterans, and update the compensation and benefits packages to match the reality of today's medical needs for our service members and their families.

Gail always believed it was an honor to represent Veterans while serving in the State Senate. As a member of Congress, Gail will continue listening to the Veterans in her district, understanding their experiences and complaints, and she will hold the VA strictly accountable to the Veterans in Colorado's 3rd District. While the VA has done a good job in decreasing its claims backlog in recent years, Gail looks forward to the day when all Veterans will get the care they need when they need it.

Gail will oppose efforts to cut Veterans' education benefits to pay for other Veterans' services. Most importantly, the devastating rate of Veteran suicide due to PTSD must be addressed by providing the support and services our Veterans and their families desperately need. The members of our military take untold risks to protect Americans and our freedoms, and we owe them the best care possible along with our respect when they return to civilian life.
