Khouri Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month With Illinois Lieutenant Governor

Tonia Khouri, candidate for Illinois' 11th District, hosted a breakfast at Latino-owned Aurora Pancake House on Friday in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. The event featured our nation's first Latina lieutenant governor, Illinois Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti, as well as other local leaders and elected officials.

"I'm so grateful to Tonia for inviting me to participate in her Hispanic Heritage Month celebration," said Sanguinetti. "She has been a personal friend and dedicated colleague of mine for many years, so I know firsthand that she shares the values of the Hispanic community and I'm confident she will be a devoted advocate for us in Washington."

Sanguinetti has been an outspoken Khouri supporter for many months, having officially endorsed her in the Republican primary at a Women for Tonia rally in January.

Other elected officials at the event included Illinois State Senator Jim Oberweis, Illinois State Representative Linda Chapa LaVia, Kane County Coroner Rob Russell and Aurora Alderman Carl Franco.

"We're blessed here in the 11th District to have a vibrant Hispanic community," Khouri said. "I am the wife of an immigrant, a mother, and a small business owner, so I know that many of the issues which are personal for me, are also personal for our Hispanic neighbors. I look forward to being their voice in Washington after I'm elected in November."
