Direct support professionals and home health care workers do critical work supporting the elderly and disabled. They deserve a living wage and good working conditions. In 2013 Jerry authored the bill which provided a much needed 5% wage increase, but this bill only increased average pay for these workers to $11.50/hr. There is much more to do, stable and sufficient funding for health care workers is essential to attract and retain the professionals Minnesota needs in this critical role.
