U.S. Senator Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) today issued the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court temporarily halted a court order requiring Backpage.com to turn over business records that were subpoenaed by the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations:
"Sex trafficking is modern day slavery and Backpage should be required to turn over all records pertinent to the Senate's investigation of how Backpage participates in this criminal industry. These documents need to be reviewed by the Senate to allow for a full investigation of sex trafficking on the internet," said Senator Kirk.
