Issue Position: An Economy that Works for All of Us

Issue Position

Anyone who works hard and plays by the rules deserves a fair shot at the American dream. Yet, according to a recent Pew Institute study, Wisconsin's middle class is shrinking faster than any other state's. The best way to strengthen our economy is to once again allow our middle class to expand. But since Republicans have controlled state government, Wisconsin has ranked 32nd nationwide in job growth and dead last in business start-ups.

Wisconsin is blessed with many strengths that can allow our state to take the lead in developing sustainable, well-paying jobs. We have traditionally strong agricultural and manufacturing sectors. We still have nationally-recognized universities and colleges with outstanding capabilities in research, though Republicans are doing their best to undermine them. Most importantly we have a talented, energetic people whose work-ethic is legendary. What we need is a state government that can put policies in place that will develop jobs and technologies for the 21st Century.
