Having spent 20 years in the private sector, Terri knows exactly how tough it can be for businesses to thrive in an uncertain regulatory environment. That's why it has been one of her goals in the Minnesota Senate over the past 11 years to ease the burden on our businesses and their employees, and to facilitate economic growth.
Terri strongly believes that our policies must be designed to create an environment that fosters innovation and entrepreneurship. Unfortunately, this is not something we're seeing out of the current do-nothing Congress. "This Congress," says Terri, "refuses to pass economic incentive packages. It will not even begin the conversation around immigration reform, which is not just a social issue, but also has a significant impact on our economic stability and growth.
"This same gridlock and lack of leadership," she adds, "has had a drastic impact on our entire economy. We need to focus on putting policies before politics and people before parties."
As she has done at the State Senate through programs like the Angel Investment Tax Credit (a refundable income tax credit that encourages investment in small Minnesota businesses), Terri will be a leading champion of tax reform for small businesses. She will continue to lead on pro-business initiatives when she gets to Congress.
