Issues: Elections

Republican gubernatorial nominee Bill Cole called on Jim Justice to agree to a series of issue focused debates in every region of the state today. The two candidates should agree to media sponsored debates that focus on the issues.

"After years of one party rule, West Virginia is in a real mess. President Obama's assault on our coal industry and the continued attack on fossil fuels have put our state budget in shambles," said Cole. "Our people aren't working, our schools are failing, our infrastructure is broken and more of our citizens are falling victim to drugs."

"Voters deserve to hear directly from the two major party candidates what their plans are to meet our challenges," stated Cole. "I stand ready to debate the issues with Jim Justice in every part of our state."

Below is a proposed outline of seven debates around the state focusing on major issues facing West Virginia for consideration. Each debate should be an open discussion with no controlled setting and a media partner asking unscripted questions that are not provided to either campaign in advance.
