Governor Lynch Encourages New Hampshire Citizens To Show their Support for the Shipyard At Base Closure Commission Hearing on July 6th

Proclaims July 6th"Save Our Shipyard" Day

Proclaiming July 6th as "Save our Shipyard" Day in New Hampshire, Gov. John Lynch today encouraged New Hampshire citizens to show their support for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and its workers by attending the Base Realignment and Closure Commission hearing in Boston on that day.

"The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and its workers have been a vital part of New Hampshire's economy and community and the defense of our country for more than 200 years. July 6th is one of the most important days in its history - the case we make and the strong community support we show to the Base Realignment and Closure Commission will play a large role in determining its future," Gov. Lynch said.

"The Seacoast Shipyard Association is prepared to bring 50 busloads of people down to Boston for the hearing, and I call on the people of New Hampshire to make sure we have every seat on those buses filled," Gov. Lynch said.

Buses will begin loading at 9 a.m. for a 10 a.m. departure to Boston. The buses will leave from two locations: the corner of Walker Street and U.S. Route 1 (old Sparkle Spot Parking Lot) in Kittery, Maine and from the Airport Terminal, Exeter Street, Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth.

Buses will begin departing at 3:30 p.m. to return to New Hampshire.
