Gov. Scott: Naples Area Added Nearly 4,000 New Jobs Over the Year

Governor Rick Scott announced today the Naples area added 3,900 private-sector jobs over the year in June. The area's unemployment rate was 4.9 percent, declining by 0.6 percentage point in the last year.

Governor Scott said, "With nearly 4,000 new jobs created in Naples, more and more Floridians are finding the opportunities they need to get a job. Today's announcement is great news for families across the state, and shows that Florida is on track to becoming a national leader in job creation."

The industries with the largest job gains in Naples over the year were trade, transportation and utilities and leisure and hospitality, each with 1,200 new jobs. In June, the Naples area had 3,659 job openings, which included 693 high-wage, high-skill STEM occupations.

Florida businesses have added 102,600 new jobs since January 2016, bringing the total number of jobs created since December 2010 to 1,127,400 jobs. Florida's annual job growth rate, at 3.2 percent, is also exceeding the nation's, at 1.9 percent, for the 51st consecutive month. The state's unemployment rate remained at 4.7 percent in June, the lowest rate since November 2007. More than 31,841 Floridians were placed in jobs by CareerSource Southwest Florida and the state's other 24 regional workforce boards.
