U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp announced $9,900,538 in federal funding for the North Dakota Department of Human Services that will assist individuals with disabilities and senior citizens who may reside in a group home or nursing home transition into housing that fits their specific needs.

"North Dakotans with disabilities and older folks have unique needs that may require additional in-home assistance to help keep them in their homes and live their lives more independently and with dignity," said Heitkamp. "The federal funds will help these folks make the transition into better housing and provide needed services that allow them to stay in their homes all while saving taxpayer dollars by assisting them in transitioning away from expensive long-term care programs."

These federal funds are made available through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' Money Follows the Person Rebalancing Demonstration Grant.
