Former Nevada Attorney General and U.S. Senate candidate Catherine Cortez Masto released the following statement on Nevada State Senator Pat Spearman's address at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) today in Philadelphia:

"Senator Spearman is an exemplary public servant and as a Nevadan, I am proud to have her represent our state on the first night of the Convention. Senator Spearman has dedicated her life to serving our country and strengthening our communities; she is a tireless leader who has fought to solve problems for all Nevadans.

"Senator Spearman's remarks tonight also remind us of the undeniable distinction between Democrats and Republicans in this year's election. Republicans like Donald Trump and Congressman Heck oppose raising the minimum wage, oppose legislation to ensure women receive equal pay for equal work, and support an immigration agenda that would tear families apart. We are lucky to have Nevadans like Senator Spearman in Philadelphia this week to ensure we remember this and elect Democrats in November."
