Today CNBC released its annual rankings of each state's business friendliness and Connecticut is down 10 from 33 to 43 in the nation.

According to CNBC: "High costs and poor infrastructure hinder the Nutmeg State, but it scores high in innovation and quality of life."

"The same-old, top down approach of government intervention has yielded disastrous results for Connecticut's economy," said Carter. "Whether it's higher taxes or burdensome regulations, Senator Blumenthal and Governor Malloy have together done nothing but create artificial barriers to economic opportunity."

"Too many families and businesses can't afford to live, and work here," Carter said. "Until we change policy makers and policies, the innovations of tomorrow that will drive America's economy will be created somewhere else, instead of right here in Connecticut."

"I've seen up close what happens when government picks winners and losers in business," Carter said. "We need a new approach to grow a healthy economy that starts from the bottom-up, and empowers innovation and entrepreneurship. These are the hallmarks of our state's history."

"Senator Blumenthal was asked in 2010 how a job is created, and he couldn't answer the question," Carter said. "The reason he can't answer that question, is because government doesn't create jobs, but as a career politician Dick Blumenthal doesn't know any different."

"Senator Blumenthal's idea of job creation is to grow Washington's economy, not Connecticut's," Carter said. "But instead of creating barriers, and task forces, and raising taxes to pay for expensive programs; maybe it's time for a different approach. I believe that instead of growing Washington's economy government must remove barriers to growth, stop picking winners and losers, and give the power of economic opportunity back to the people."
