Following last week's vote in the U.S. House of Representatives to pass the conference report for the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA), U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte today urged her colleagues to pass the report when the Senate votes on it this week.

"In a nearly unanimous vote Friday, the House passed this bipartisan measure that I have been helping to lead for two years. I am urging my Senate colleagues to follow the House and swiftly pass this report so that we can get this critically important legislation signed into law. CARA prioritizes the key aspects of a comprehensive approach to the opioid abuse epidemic that I have pushed for, including prevention, treatment, recovery, and support for first responders. We have a responsibility to act and we cannot wait any longer," said Senator Ayotte.

The House passed the conference report by a vote of 407-5. The Senate is expected to vote on the report as early as Tuesday afternoon.
