"I am proud to be part of this important work," Foxx said. "I'm looking forward to working with all the delegates to write a unifying and substantive conservative platform that offers a meaningful course correction from President Obama's failed policies.

"The Republican platform is written in the open with input from conservatives across the nation, and I will ensure the principles and priorities of the Fifth District are included in that process," Foxx said. "After all, real wisdom is found in North Carolina."

As part of the Republican National Convention, the Platform Committee -- comprised of one man and one woman from each state and territory -- will meet to outline the core principles and values of the Republican Party.

Foxx will serve on the Platform Committee alongside committee chairman Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming and Governor Mary Fallin of Oklahoma who will serve as Co-Chair with Foxx.

"Senator Barrasso, Governor Fallin, and Congresswoman Foxx have been dedicated leaders in our Party for many years, and I am proud to have them heading up the Platform Committee," said Chairman Priebus. "I know they will bring their good judgment and a principled vision for our Party and our country into this role. Writing the platform is a critical task, and as we enter one of the most important elections of our lifetime, our Party is eager to lead an American resurgence by standing on our commitment to life, individual liberty, a strong national defense, and an economy that works for all Americans."

The Platform Committee is soliciting input from the public on the issues facing America that the platform statement will address. You can participate by in the process by visiting www.platform.gop.
