Today, Rep. Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx), Vice Chair of the Democratic Caucus, released the statement below on today's announcement of a decision by the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of Whole Women's Health v. Hellerstedt, a lawsuit challenging a Texas law that undermined a woman's constitutionally protected right to make her own health decisions by placing burdensome, unnecessary restrictions on the state's health clinics.

"As a husband and a father, I believe that women's health is more important than politics. That's why I was so disappointed to see Texas go against this principle with their clinic shutdown law that deliberately limited access to health care.

"I am pleased that the Supreme Court has recognized that this law is an unconstitutional restriction on women's health care, and I will keep fighting to make sure all women can access reproductive health care services when they need them and where they need them."
