Press Release

Date: June 30, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) announced today that West Virginia will receive $5 million in emergency relief funds from the Federal Highway Administration to help repair and rebuild flood-damaged federal highways and roads.

This expedited funding will allow our state to immediately begin working to address the catastrophic damage done by storms, flooding, and mudslides.

"These funds will help kickstart the repair and rebuilding of critical roads and highways damaged or destroyed by this historic storm. The scope of the damage meant quick action was needed, and I appreciate the Federal Highway Administration allocating these much-needed emergency funds for West Virginia. As the cleanup process continues, I will work with state and local officials to make sure we get what we need to rebuild and reconnect our communities," Rep. Jenkins said.

Eligible repair work includes emergency repairs needed to restore essential traffic, minimize the extent of damage, or protect the remaining facilities as well as permanent repairs necessary to restore the highway to its pre-disaster condition.
