U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte today released the following statement regarding Kinder Morgan's decision to officially withdraw their proposal for the Northeast Energy Direct (NED) Pipeline Project.
"In December I announced my opposition to the NED project moving forward due to the many unanswered questions and concerns raised by New Hampshire residents and I am pleased that Kinder Morgan submitted a letter to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission withdrawing the application for the NED project," said Senator Ayotte.
Ayotte was the first statewide elected official to oppose the NED pipeline, and announced that she was pleased when the company initially suspended the project in April. Ayotte advocated repeatedly for more transparency on the project in hearings and letters to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.
