Issue Position: WORKING TOGETHER…CREATING JOBS -- WHAT EXACTLY DOES THAT MEAN?

Issue Position

Every day I see people working hard to better their family and community. By sending me to Sacramento, you will ensure that we have a strong voice fighting for this district -- doing what I do every day -- bringing people together to solve problems with the goal to promote positive social, economic and educational change.

We must move beyond political rhetoric and partisan bickering. I have firsthand experience of bringing people together to accomplish a major regional energy project that put 800 local people to work and while providing enough clean energy for 180,000 California homes. But there is much more work that needs to be done to for a better future.

My 3-point job plan includes:

There is a great transformation occurring in technology and energy; we have the resources to help retrain the workforce with business partnerships to create regional programs in our community colleges and universities;

Infrastructure is the basis for a strong economy; by continuing to improve water systems, broadband telecommunication plus structural and multimodal transportation improvements throughout the region will enhance our prime industries of agricultural, tourism and small businesses along with overall quality of life;

Housing is needed not only to create jobs, but to retain the valuable jobs we have; this region has been fortunate to have cultivated successful manufacturing and technology firms. The housing needs of their employees along with other young entrepreneurs, public safety professionals, teachers, health care and other service industry workers are critical to our economy and way of life --they all need to know they have a future in this district. We must return balance to the jobs/housing equation by providing incentives to builders to supply the kind of housing that is lacking for our workforce.

My Experience. Bringing people together to achieve common goals. And a sensible, actionable plan to create more jobs and ensure a vibrant economy on the Central Coast. This is what I offer you as your Assemblywoman for the 35th District. I have the ability to get us there, but need your help to create the change we desire. I respectfully ask for your support and your vote.
