U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp announced $475,838 in federal funding to support a summer research program at North Dakota State University (NDSU) that will engage undergraduate student in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education.

"As our economy continues to connect and grow on a global scale, we must make sure students are equipped with the knowledge and skills that will support their futures and drive our nation forward," said Heitkamp. "STEM education is critical to many of the fast-paced and innovative jobs that are in demand. By providing students with in-depth research in this field we can help build a prepared workforce that is ready to innovate. These federal funds are an investment in NDSU's undergraduate students to further their understanding of STEM education."

The federal funds are made available through the National Science Foundation's Division of Undergraduate Education.
