Reed Visits Walter Reed National Military Medical Center

Press Release

Date: April 18, 2016
Issues: Veterans

Tom Reed continued his efforts to care for veterans and their families by visiting some of our nation's heroes at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. "We care about veterans and their families. We had the honor of meeting some of the bravest, most valiant soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen that our nation has to offer. It was a privilege to meet them and learn more about the challenges they face and how we can help these veterans overcome hardship," said Reed.

Reed has visited Walter Reed on multiple occasions finding inspiration from those he is able to meet. "You hear the stories of these men and women and their acts of selfless service, and you can only stand in awe. We are so grateful for their commitment to our country, their service and their sacrifice," said Reed.

The visit to Walter Reed comes as Reed finalizes his comprehensive proposal designed to address some of the most pressing national issues facing our veterans and their families. The forthcoming plan is designed to help hold the Veterans Affairs (VA) Administration accountable, provide better healthcare for our veterans, modernizing the VA to overcome modern challenges such as providing access to specialized care for traumatic brain injuries and female veterans and helping active duty service members transition to civilian life by helping them find quality, family-sustaining jobs.

"It's only fair that after sacrificing so much for our country, we stand with our veterans and their families. As a nation, we must come together to fight for their needs," said Reed.
