I voted "Yes" on H.R. 4407, the Counterterrorism Advisory Board Act.
This bill formally authorizes the Counterterrorism Advisory Board and includes it under the jurisdiction of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The board, which was informally established by DHS in 2010 and includes agency officials from all departments under DHS jurisdiction, is directed to meet regularly to discuss national intelligence and coordinate ongoing threat mitigation efforts.
This legislation will ensure that the improved coordination across DHS departments encouraged by the Counterterrorism Advisory Board continues. Our nation faces grave dangers from terrorism both at home and abroad, and this bill helps make certain that our counterterrorism defenses are effective and able to quickly adapt to the ever changing terrorist threat.
This bill was approved by a vote of 389-5.
