Obama Administration Overtime Rule Hurts Workers

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on the Obama Administration's new overtime rules:

"Saying a policy will raise wages doesn't make it happen. Far from helping workers, the Obama Administration's new overtime rule will most likely reduce salaried positions and flexibility for workers. The rule will force employers to waste time and resources logging hours. It will also require workers to fit their lives into a mold that bureaucrats impose, not what works best for them. Washington can't impose higher wages without negative consequences, and this misguided meddling in the economy will hurt the very people who most need help."
